A schedule to build the new medical centre at Peters Village is now being finalised after minor revisions to the original design.
The two-storey building (south and west elevations are pictured left) will be operated by the Phoenix Practice and a spokesman for their development partner, Assura – a specialist in medical contracts – said:
“The basic form, location and external design approach is unaltered and the architectural style remains consistent with the other buildings (Peters Village developer) Trenport has planned for the Village Centre.
“Internal layouts have been fully detailed to meet the needs and working practices of the surgery. Most importantly the design now ‘future proofs’ the premises, with flexibility to increase the clinical floor space to meet future growth in patient numbers.”
By agreement with Trenport, Assura has now applied to Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, seeking formal approval to amend the existing consent to reflect these design updates; the developer expects to confirm a start date via a statement in September.
Trenport Director Chris Hall welcomed the latest news: “Negotiations with the NHS were surprisingly and frustratingly slow at the start, but matters are now proceeding well towards beginning this smart new building, which will ultimately serve the 1,000 homes of Peters Village and a catchment area beyond that too."
