Peters Village is a new community created beside Kent's greatest river, the Medway, enjoying both historic and new amenities, a range of leisure facilities, plus excellent links with the surrounding area and London.
This outstanding location has a backdrop of the North Downs featuring wooded downland and chalk grassland, open arable fields and protected marshland adjacent to the tidal stretch of the River Medway as it meanders towards historic Rochester and beyond to the sea...
The community will soon have its own local shops, but is also close to the major shopping centres of Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, and the Medway Towns, less than 30 minutes from one the UK's premier shopping centres, Bluewater, and close to London by car and train.
There is fast access by car to the M20 and M2 and direct trains from Snodland to London St. Pancras and Blackfriars taking little as 45 minutes. The Eurostar Ebbsfleet high-speed rail terminal is also just 15 miles away, while London’s Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports are easily accessible via the motorways.
Peters Village offers a wide range of attractive homes from leading developers. Affordable homes available under Shared Ownership or for direct purchase, support from the Help to Buy scheme …
This imposing sculpture stands at the main entrance to Peters Village, evoking the diverse heritage of the location.
For Peters Village might be a new community, but its human history includes Roman settlements, and a fascinating industrial past as one of the largest cement producers in the country.
There is natural history too, being home to many rare species.
Building a new community
Peters Village has been designed to be a true village, with its own community facilities. When completed, it will have its own shops, medical centre, school, and village hall with changing rooms to serve the area’s playing fields.
Living by the river
Peters Village has a characterful location on the east bank of Kent’s major river, the Medway. Riverside properties are fronted by a landmark promenade and the site then rises steadily away from the water, to offer increasingly wide and commanding views over the Medway Valley.
A special place
Those moving to Peters Village also become neighbours to some special flora and fauna: rarities such as the Great Crested Newt, several bat species , the Adonis Blue butterfly, various orchids, and the Marsh Mallow Moth – it is one of just two UK sites where this moth is found.
Part of the land is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and managed by a partnership between site developer Trenport, the Government-backed Natural England and Kent Wildlife Trust.
A new bridge for a new village
More than a third of the Peters Village infrastructure budget went into an all-new crossing for the River Medway, but the elegant bridge was identified as crucial to the new community’s enviable transport connections and residents’ prospects for work, education, shopping and leisure.
At Peters Village, a wide range of new homes are available now, provided by some of the UK's leading property developers.
Whether for outright sale, or through the Affordable Housing schems of Shared Ownership and Affordable Rent, or with assistance from the Government's Help to Buy scheme - requiring a mortgage as low as 25% of the total property cost - you will find apartments and houses available in a range of configurations and prices.

Help to Buy
If you want to purchase a home of your own, but can’t afford to buy on the open market, Help to Buy could be your way onto the property ladder.
The Government has created the Help to Buy scheme to help you take your first steps into home ownership.
There are several Help to Buy products designed to make buying a home more affordable.
You can buy a home using one of the home ownership options or rent a home at less than the market rent, allowing you to save for a future deposit.

What is Shared Ownership?
Shared Ownership makes it possible to own your home – even if you feel priced out of the property market.
It’s an affordable home ownership scheme designed as a stepping stone to outright ownership if you can’t afford to buy a home on the open market.
Under a Shared Ownership scheme, you part-own and part-rent your home, enabling first-time buyers and families to get on the property ladder.
With a Shared Ownership property, you become an owner-occupier. This gives you the long-term security and stability of home ownership at a price that’s still affordable.
Some advantages of Shared Ownership:
- You'll own part of your home, rather than paying rent with no return
- Your monthly mortgage and rent can work out much cheaper than buying outright, and sometimes not much more than renting
- You can buy more shares in your home or sell it if you want to
- You only buy what you can afford so you don't overstretch yourself financially
How do I apply for a shared ownership home?
Firstly, you need to register with www.helptobuyese.org.uk, and then you should contact the relevant housing developer at Peters Village.
Developers currently offering shared ownership are Orbit, Hyde/Westerhill and (see right) Moat Homes.
How do I apply for a home under the Affordable Rent scheme?
You must either have already been accepted onto Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s (TMBC) housing register or apply to join the register using TMBC’s Housing Assessment form.
You must be aged 16 or over to apply, have a local connection to TMBC and qualify for a housing need.
