Tales from the Riverbank - Orbit Homes' Riverside Place at Peters Village

Orbit Homes has highlighted availability at its Riverside Place development within Peters Village, which followed up on the housebuilder's popular Kiln View phase.

As the name suggests, Riverside Place benefits from a picturesque location next to the River Medway and comprises stylish one, two and three-bedroom apartments and houses. Current offers are from £259,995 for a two-bedroom house and from £349,995 for a three-bedroom.

Peters Village offers a traditional village location beside the river, married to a superb standard of modern living, local facilities, and excellent transport links to London and other major towns and cities, thanks to the newly opened Peters Bridge, which spans the Medway.

Karen Holdsworth, who recently moved into an Orbit-built home at Kiln View said: “Peters Village is a hidden paradise! It is so refreshing to find a tranquil environment within such easy reach of everything you need for modern life. We’re surrounded by a nature reserve, and yet we’re an easy drive to Chatham and Maidstone, and there is a train station with fast connections to London just a short walk away.

“We were delighted when we viewed the Orbit show home and discovered that buying a new build property doesn’t mean you have to compromise on space or quality. The house we chose was comfortably within our budget yet offers everything we hoped for from our new home.”

For people struggling to start on the property ladder, 22 homes at the development (a mix of two-bedroom apartments and houses) will be eligible for purchase through the Shared Ownership Scheme. This means that purchasers with an annual household income of less than £80k can buy a share of a property at Riverside Place, and pay a Government-subsidised rent on the remaining portion, while only having to find a deposit for the purchased share of the total sale price.

However, this doesn’t mean that those benefitting from the scheme are stuck with paying rent forever, because an option known as 'Staircasing' allows buyers to increase the stake in their home in the future, as personal circumstances and household income allow.

A further 49 apartments and houses at Riverside Place are available with ‘Help to Buy’, a Government-backed equity scheme, whereby buyers of new build homes only need a 5% deposit, and the government will lend them up to 20% of the purchase price, meaning they are just required to secure up to a 75% mortgage.

The Orbit marketing suite at Peters Village is open from Thursday to Monday, and more information about homes available at Riverside Place can be found at www.orbit.org.uk
